Children have a right to a safe and fulfilling development, however, there are a number of risks which can negatively impact their lives. Learn about the protection and wellbeing of children and young people on this level 2 course.
Course Overview
It's essential to ensure the safety and well-being of children under your care. This involves being aware of the potential risks they may face, such as abuse, exploitation, and unhealthy habits. Our course equips you with the knowledge and skills to protect children from these dangers, including accident prevention and fire safety measures.You will also learn about key aspects of parenting, such as parental rights and responsibilities, and promoting a healthy lifestyle for children.

This course is made up of four units:
- Caring for Young Children in a Babysitting Environment
- Accident Prevention and Fire Safety When Babysitting
- Rights and Responsibilities in Relation to Parenting
- Parenting and Healthy Lifestyles
This course is well suited to a career in social work, youth work or foster care.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must currently live in England
- You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
- You must be over the age of 19
- You must not be on an apprenticeship
There is a £125 cancellation fee if you enrol and do not complete or withdraw from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.

This course is funded by the government's Adult Education Budget, which means you may be able to study for free.
