Awareness of Men's Mental Health Problems
This course will provide you with an understanding of what is meant by mental health and mental ill health with a particular focus on men’s mental health.
Course Overview
The number of men who have suicidal thoughts has doubled since 2009. Although men are now more likely to see a therapist if they’re feeling worried or low, there’s still a long way to go to ensure that men are supported with their mental health.
Upon completion of this course you will receive the 'Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems'. Please note: if you already hold a Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems, you will not be eligible to study this course.
What you'll learn
The course covers various facets of mental health, and understanding the ways in which neurodiversity can impact mental health if not properly supported. The course is made up of 13 units:

- Understanding Depression
- Understanding Postnatal Depression
- Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Understanding Bipolar Disorder
- Understanding Schizophrenia
- Understanding Dementia
- Understanding Eating Disorders
- Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Eligibility Criteria
- You must currently live in England
- You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
- You must be over the age of 19
- You must not be on an apprenticeship
There is a £125 cancellation fee if you enrol and do not complete or withdraw from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.

This course is funded by the government's Adult Education Budget, which means you may be able to study for free.
